Street Angels is a small group set up about eight years ago. The group collect donations and distribute, to the street sleepers of the Southampton and Waterside area; hot meals, drinks, packed lunches, thermals, gloves, hats, scarves and socks. The volunteers demonstrated the single sleeper, insulated ‘tent/thermal pod’ that they give out to homeless people. The club members made a collection and donated a generous sum of money to their group. The club members continue to enjoy their social trips out with the opportunity to give their classic cars a run. January’s meet up was at the Kitchen Cafe at Cedars Nursery, Sandy Lane, Braishfield, Romsey. Members continue to enjoy the friendly, social atmosphere at the monthly meetings as well as the monthly cafe meet ups. Every evening meeting includes a raffle with many members leaving with a prize or two. The club holds many events throughout the year with speakers on various topics, picnics, members with a view to joining. Members have a range of classic vehicles such as Bedford, Ford, Land Rover, Mercedes, M.G., Morris, Riley, Saab, Triumph and Volkswagen enabling the club to expand the membership. Why not drop in for a taster visit, a tea or coffee and share any of you classic car experiences with members? You will receive a warm welcome. Meetings take place on the second Thursday of each month, starting at 7.30pm, at Netley Marsh Community Hall, Woodlands Road, SO40 7GE. Do go along and meet them. It takes place in Ampfield Village Hall (SO51 9BJ), between 10am and 12noon. Parking and admission are free. The Market has become a very popular meeting place, offering the best value, most delicious refreshments in Hampshire! Every effort is made to keep the sales tables lively and interesting. There are top quality, locally sourced items for sale including cakes, biscuits, savoury foods, honey, fresh bread, eggs, plants, fruit and veg, crafts, books, cards, wrapping paper, jewellery and collectables. They order their fruit and veg from Hansards a very reputable local supplier and they endeavour to sell a good variety of fresh, seasonal produce every month. Matt’s Bakery in Chandlers Ford supplies their bread each month. The Market generates almost £2,000 a year towards Village Hall funds. The Market team generously volunteer their time and baking skills to provide a delicious seasonal selection of cakes every month, which are served with coffee throughout the morning.
