A long way o but, save the date of Saturday 30th November for our Christmas Concert. We welcome for the rst time a ukulele band called Frontline who have played at several venues around the area, most recently e Victorian Christmas Fair at Beaulieu. We are also welcoming back the Melody Makers who gave us such a fantastic performance at our last Christmas concert. Once again, we are keeping our ticket price low and for both concerts, they will be £5. We will be serving wine and so drinks at the events and of course we will be holding a ra e. If there are any local businesses that would be able to donate a ra e prize, please contact Dawn on: 07990 585656. We look forward to your continued support at these events. Your kind generosity helped us to raise over £1,000 last year. e National Trust property Mottisfont near Romsey has several new events taking place in 2024, including an exhibition to coincide with the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Heath Robinson at War (running until 14th April), showing a wide selection of Heath Robinson’s humorous drawings from both World Wars. e exhibition contains around sixty pieces of original artwork together with books, Christmas cards made for di erent military units, and letters from the troops and the public thanking him for his morale-raising e orts, with suggestions of subjects for future drawings. In each World War, Heath Robinson demonstrated his ability to counter, by the application of gentle satire and absurdity, both the pompous German propaganda and the fear and depression engendered by the horrors of war. e subject matter also gave him immense scope to devise ever more ingenious contraptions.
