Est., Hythe 023 8084 0163 SBR Local Duathlon at Ganger Farm Ganger Farm Sports Park in Romsey has recently launched a monthly duathlon event hosted by Swim Bike Run (SBR) Local in partnership with British Triathlon. is great new cycling and running event, on the third Sunday of every month, has been created to o er the people of Romsey and surrounding areas the opportunity to take part in something di erent to challenge themselves both mentally and physically. It’s a great way to keep in shape and perfect for both entry level and more experienced participants. e cycle route is 1.4k and the run route is just under 1k; participants can do up to seven laps which equates to 9.8k cycling and up to just over 5k running, so as much or as little as they want. e Duathlon event is on the third Sunday of every month at 7.45am at Ganger Farm Sports Park, Ganger Farm Way, Romsey SO51 0EE, there is a small fee of £5 to participate, it is not a competition, but an individual challenge. e cycle route is rst, followed by the run. When cycling everyone must wear a helmet to be able to take part. Due to the cycle route having a small section on the road, the British Triathlon regulation for participating in the event is 18 years plus. If you would like to volunteer please email: gangersports@testvalley.gov. uk 50 Years of Continental Steam Photography e Railway Club of the New Forest meet on Friday 22nd March in the Exhibition Room, Brockenhurst Village Hall, Highwood Road, Brockenhurst SO42 7RY. Ian Foot will present ‘50 years of Continental Steam Photography’. Once steam locomotives ceased to be used on British Railways in 1968 the speaker started travelling to European railways on each side of the Iron Curtain and beyond to South Africa and the Middle East. Ian is a career railwayman from his apprenticeship at Eastleigh Works and nished as Eurostar’s British Engineer based in Paris. A er retiring he worked as a Railway Engineering Consultant both in the UK and abroad. Visitors welcome. £5 on the door. Arrive from 7pm. Start at 7.30pm. Find them on: www.railwayclubo henewforest.org.uk Photo: Ian Foot MUSIC IN ROMSEY e next concert in Romsey Abbey takes place on Saturday 23rd March for Bach’s St John Passion - Romsey Choral Society with Monteverdi String Band, 7.30pm. Bach’s St John Passion was rst performed on Good Friday in 1724, while he was Cantor at the omasschule in Leipzig, and is one of the great works of the choral repertoire. e text draws from chapters 18 and 19 of St John’s Gospel, and Bach sets the text with wonderful colour and imagination. ey are delighted to be joined by the Monteverdi String Band, one of the best baroque orchestras in the country. Reserved £20, £10 (under 16’s, students). Unreserved £12, £6 (under 16’s, students). On Saturday 13th April Southampton Youth Orchestra return with a varied concert including the majestic Saint-Saëns Organ Symphony, 7.30pm. MARCHWOOD VETERANS BREAKFAST CLUB Are you a service member of the Armed Forces, a Veteran, or family member of someone serving?
