Another game of Stableford played over 9 holes was the order of the day. Bramshott Hill Seniors faced the challenge undeterred and total of 27 players took to the course. e bunkers were declared out of play due to the conditions and some of the fairways were extremely wet. If the ball landed in standing water players were allowed to li and place it in a drier position. is would seem to be the case for the foreseeable future if the weather forecasts are to be believed. eir Captain Dave Wilson, introduced a side element to their game, a marker is placed somewhere on the rst fairway and the person that drives closest to the marker wins a bottle of wine. e rst winner was Jeff Andrews, who received a bottle of Baileys a er the game. e results were as follows: Division 1: 1st Adrian Mitchell 19, 2nd Steven Lawson 19, 3rd Paul Wastell 19. Division 2: 1st John Manning 19, 2nd Jeffrey Andrews 19, 3rd Phillip Lebrun 19. Where points are equal, positions are determined using the countback formula. Sadly, due to the weather and course conditions no golf was played on Monday 26th February. e weather continues to bring bouts of heavy rain but ‘MyTime’ sta managed to get the top nine holes open for Monday 4th March. irty Senior Bramshott Hill players took to the course for a Stableford game. e conditions were still very wet which made playing very muddy and balls plugged on several occasions, but it takes more than this to deter Bramshott Seniors. It is clear from the results that several Seniors have managed to adapt their game to these poor conditions and are returning some very good scores. Included in the main competition, a prize is also awarded, for the player getting nearest the pin in a single stroke on holes 4 and 4a. is is awarded monthly and the winner for February was Mike Newland. Mike was presented with two bottles of wine by Seniors Captain Dave Wilson. e results are as follows: Division 1: 1st Doug Dearden 21, 2nd Dave Wilson 20, 3rd Brian Lewis 20. Division 2: 1st David Wyatt 21, 2nd Brett Parr 21, 3rd Ronald Gooding 20. 20th February the ‘DOGS’ played a 3 Ball Team Stableford Waltz. Individual Stableford score and those other wonderful add ons were played. Nearest the Pins: L Jones 4th (18) and B Baker 4th (9). 27th February the ‘DOGS’ played one of their favourites, a 3 Man Team Yellow Peril (Winter Card) played on the 9 hole and part 18 hole courses. A Ffestiniog Railway Miscellany e Railway Club of the New Forest meet on Friday 19th April in the Exhibition Room, Brockenhurst Village Hall, Highwood Road, Brockenhurst. SO42 7RY. e talk will be preceded by a short (10 minute) AGM. Charles Clark’s talk is entitled ‘A Ffestiniog Railway Miscellany’. When Charles Clark was the guest speaker at the Club’s meeting in February 2022, he took his audience to the top le -hand corner of Wales to talk about the Welsh Highland Railway that runs from Caernarvon to Porthmadog. In April 2024 he is returning to Wales to talk about its companion railway, the Ffestiniog, and to show some vintage lms of it from his large collection of railway lms. He will later talk about the major project at the two railways’ loco works at Boston Lodge, following the receipt of a Heritage Lottery Fund grant of £3.5 million. Visitors welcome. £5 on the door.
