Over 40 stalls will come together to showcase their organisation, charity or community group. It’s an event full of welcoming stalls that will have interactive games and activities to do along the way. A great opportunity for local residents to come down to the village and have a look at what they can get involved in themselves, anything from volunteering, meeting local like-minded people or just getting involved in special events. is year will see a councillor stand, where kids can get involved with a fun game collecting stamps from the di erent stalls, resulting in a fun activity goodie bag upon completion. At the end of the Hythe of Activity Day there will the annual awards ceremony for the Community Spirit and Environmental Champion awards. Local residents can be nominated for going above and beyond for their community or environment. A big feature of the Waterside’s summer events programme since beginning in the 1980s the RNLI Great Waterside Ra & Kayak Race is one of the few ra races that are held on the sea, which adds an element of excitement not found on river races. e course is set out between Hythe Marina and Hythe Pier and is always held between the 2 high tides unique to the Solent area. e rst race will start at 12noon, with ra assembly and stalls opening from 10.30am. Medals and trophies will be presented to the race winners by Main Sponsors TMT Legal Services LLP, with thanks for their ongoing support. e day is aimed at being a fun day out, to be enjoyed by spectators as well as participants. ere are many side stalls and fun fair, ra e, drinks, ice-cream and BBQ provided so contestants and visitors can enjoy some refreshments before and during the races. HYTHE OF ACTIVITY DAY Hythe Indoor Market As well as the very popular Hythe Market held on the High Street, you will also nd an Indoor Market every Tuesday in St John’s Church Hall from 9am to 2pm. e indoor market has been running for over 30 years, o ering a wide variety of stalls from local cra ers and sellers. e regular stalls include handmade gi s for babies and children, jewellery, homemade cakes, preserves and jams, greetings cards, wooden fairy doors and trinket boxes, wind chimes and more! You can also take a break from the shopping whilst you are there and enjoy a hot drink and a bacon bap or slice of cake from the café run by volunteers from St John’s Church.
