Founded in 1980, Tools for Self Reliance supports people in Africa and the UK to build sustainable livelihoods by providing skills training and quality tools. is latest shipment will directly bene t three partner organisations working at the heart of their communities: • Foundation for Education and Social Development (FESODEV) works with disadvantaged groups to reduce poverty through skills development and local trade initiatives. • Young Achievers Foundation (YAF) supports young people, orphans, and vulnerable groups by delivering vocational training to improve their employment prospects. • Youth and Community Development Organisation (YouthCode) is committed to promoting human rights and livelihoods amongst women and children, and empowering youth to be self-reliant through the provision of education and skills. “Every tool we send represents the potential for someone to build a future on their own terms,” said Sarah Ingleby, CEO of Tools for Self Reliance. “Thanks to the incredible dedication of our volunteers and the commitment of our partners in Malawi, this shipment is more than equipment, it’s a catalyst for change, hope, and opportunity.” Leaving from Southampton, the container will arrive at Nacala Port in Mozambique, before travelling by rail to Lilongwe, Malawi. e next shipment due to go out at the end of the year, will be heading to Ghana to support local projects. e kits include trade kits for bricklaying, carpentry, electric/solar, motorcycle repair and welding. As well as haberdashery with 41 hand sewing machines, 41 electric sewing machines, 7 treadle base and sewing machines and 16 sewing machine maintenance kits. 20 bicycles, 5 electric light duty drills, 5 bench grinders, 2 overlocker sewing machines and 1 industrial sewing machine were also shipped. Malawi Shipment Local Teacher Raises £2.4K for Teenage Cancer Trust Mr Ridgley a teacher at Cadland Primary School in Holbury ran his rst London Marathon on 27th April, in 4 hours 21 minutes. He has previously competed in 5/10k runs but decided to take the leap and do the whopping 26.2 miles this year, running for Teenage Cancer Trust. He has raised an amazing £2,400 for the Charity which will help to fund specialist nurses, youth support teams and hospital units within the NHS to provide the very best care and support to teenagers during cancer treatment.
