Councillor Bailey said: “Each of these charities represents a vital lifeline to some of the most vulnerable members of our community. By supporting them over the coming year, I hope we can shine a spotlight on their incredible work, raise essential funds, and inspire more people to get involved locally.” He added that he is “looking forward to working closely with these remarkable charities. Together we can make a meaningful difference and ensure Test Valley remains a caring and supportive place for all.” Fundraising events and community activities will be announced shortly. Members of the public, local businesses and community groups are encouraged to get involved and support the mayor’s fundraising e orts. Members of volunteer-run Greenbuttercup Dementia Services were thrilled and overwhelmed to hear the news that their work with people living with Dementia and their carers is being recognised in this way. e services are about to enter their 10th year in Romsey and the funding will ensure that they will be able to described by the Mayor as providing “Compassionate care, activities, and support for individuals living with Dementia and their families across Test Valley, helping them maintain independence and dignity”. Activity groups for people living with Dementia and their carers/relatives are held on a Friday morning in the Green Room at the Plaza eatre, Romsey – Arts & Cra s on the first Friday, Reminiscence Activities on the third Friday and Singing on the fourth Friday. ere are additional trips out and outside activities throughout the year. Greenbuttercup Dementia Services are Test Valley Mayor & Mayoress with a member of Greenbuttercup Dementia Services attending the recent VEDay Party WATERSIDE FOODBANK TEMPORARY RELOCATION FOR REFIT An update from Waterside Foodbank Waterside Foodbank will commence building work in August to re t our existing Foodbank and create space for a new community hub. e Foodbank will relocate operations to Fawley British Legion for the duration of the re t. Opening hours will di er; we will be open 10am - 2.30pm Tuesday and Friday. e building program has been named Project Horizon, with support from local organisations to fund the works. As part of the Trussel Trust Foodbank family, we continue to support their models and ideas, one of which is the “cup of tea” initiative. is new space will o er the opportunity for the community to drop by, not only for food or advice, but a warm drink and a friendly face. More than ever, we need community cohesion and by enhancing our building and outreach we are continuing our long standing link with our roots in the area. Last year April 2024 – April 2025 the Waterside Foodbank supported the local community, issuing 4177 food parcels, of which 2466 were adults and 1711 were children. We are extremely low on stock, with only 2,500 kgs of food. At our fullest we held 10,000 kgs of food. The items we need the most are: • Instant mash • Tinned Fruit • Tinned soup • Tinned meat • Cereal • Pasta and Rice • UHT milk • Tinned Vegetables • Tinned Spaghetti • Pasta Sauce • Tinned Fish • Tea and Co ee • Sweet and Savoury snacks • Toilet roll and toiletries. We have various collection points in supermarkets and also at St Andrew’s in Dibden Purlieu and Jubilee Hall in Fawley, and we encourage you to use these collection points during the re t period not the Foodbank please.
