Oliphant Construction donated the lights and Russell gave his time to come and t them, Terry was the man with the plan making it all happen. e day of the installation was the hottest of the year too! Richard and the team of people with learning disabilities who use this much needed space to create amazing wood work projects – such as all the dinosaurs in the Jurassic Furzey trail at Furzey Gardens at the moment, were feeling the impact of dim and none ective lighting. But now, thanks to the brilliant support of Terry, Colin and Russell, the space is now t for purpose once again, with brilliant (and more economic!) lighting. Terry and Russell shaking hands, along with Ed, Richard and Lesley of Minstead Trust The Honeypot Children’s Charity – House to House Cycle Challenge On Sunday 6th July, 12 remarkable cyclists completed a gruelling 575-mile journey, from Ayrshire in Scotland to Hampshire, on behalf of e Honeypot Children’s Charity. Honeypot o ers young carers aged 5-12 residential respite breaks at one of three houses nationwide. e group of cyclists have raised almost £30,000 in support of the charity. Led by John Pocock, Chair of e Honeypot Children’s Charity Patrons’ Club, the dedicated team of cyclists spent 8 days in the saddle. ey arrived at Honeypot House in the New Forest on Sunday 6th July where they were greeted by a welcome party who cheered them over the nish line. e route the cyclists took passed through many di cult locations including sti climbs in the Yorkshire Dales where they braved the incredibly challenging Fleet Moss climb which bridges 347 vertical metres. Even more challenging, one of the cyclists, Travis Nelson, did the entire journey with his cat Sigrid in a basket. Cyclists completing their 575 mile challenge at Honeypot House At the start of the challenge John Pocock, Chair of The Honeypot Children’s Charity Patrons’ Club said: “We are proud to be raising money for The Honeypot Children’s Charity again, this time by cycling from their children’s respite home in South Ayrshire down to their respite home in the New Forest. This will be a serious 575 mile challenge of strength, saddle soreness and tackling whatever the British weather throws at us. It is the knowledge that every £250 we can raise will give a young carer a better future. This is why we do it.”
