All veterans, serving personnel, their families and dependents are invited to attend and enjoy the usually good humour, refreshments and occasional visiting guests. Organised by Hythe Alive, this year’s Pirate Day on Saturday 23rd August will include even more swashbuckling fun. Pirates young and old are invited to join in the Pirate Parade from Hythe Marina to the village. Keep an eye on Hythe Alive’s Facebook page for updates. Marchwood Veterans Breakfast Club Totton Repair Café Totton Repair Café is running on Saturday 16th August, 10.30am to 1pm at Totton & Eling Community Centre. e aim of the Totton Repair Café is to try and prevent small household goods from going to land ll if they stop working. You can take along small electrical or other items too good for the tip, you can sit and help/observe with any repair and refreshments are available while you wait for a small charge. It’s also an opportunity to nd out more about the Repair Café and Men’s Shed. After your repair is completed all they ask for is a voluntary donation towards the cost of the hall and insurance. If so, 17th Port and Maritime Regiment RLC would like to welcome you to their monthly breakfast club which is open to all current and ex-military services, all ranks, all ages and families. e aim is to come together as an Armed Forces Family, catch up with friends, help social interaction and mental health, talk about current and past experience, support towards housing (SFA’s and social), resettlement support for civilian life, job networking and o er tness wellbeing advice. Go along and enjoy a full English Breakfast at a very small cost of £5 with unlimited FREE brews at Sgts Mess, 17RLC, McMullen Barracks, Cracknore Hard Lane, Marchwood SO40 4ZG on the fourth Saturday of the month between 10am and 12noon. e next two meet ups take place on Saturday 23rd August and Saturday 27th September. All personnel attending will need to book into the Guardroom on arrival and will need photograph ID, you will then be directed to the mess. e summer is well underway so it is time for Music at Beaulieu’s jazz concert and on the 23rd August they welcome Spiral Jazz led by saxophonist Wendy Allen. She will be accompanied by musicians playing, as we would expect, brass, percussion and strings; as individuals they travel widely in both the UK and abroad, as a group they regularly perform their fusion jazz at concerts across the south of England. Pianist Andy Daniels has a local connection, having been the jazz piano teacher at the University of Southampton. e programme will include tributes to the music of the ‘70s and ‘80s. Doors open at 6.15pm and the concert starts at 7pm. Looking ahead, the concert on Saturday 13th September will be given by the Nova Clarinet Quintet, members of the Nova Foresta Classical Players. Music at Beaulieu Victory Days: VE and VJ Copythorne Parish History Society meets on the 4th Thursday of each month, in the main Copythorne Parish Hall at 7.30pm and welcomes anyone who wishes to go along.
