Hythe’s shops and cafes were decorated with palm trees, pirate treasure and ags and many were crewed by Pirates for the day. Hythe Library was open with Pirate themed cra s to join in and many of the shops had extra stalls and activities to join in, including KJ Mobility, Scrivens and Meeple Play Cafe. On Hythe’s Victorian Pier, the train was turned into the Pirate Express for the day, with free rides for swashbuckling buccaneers in the decorated carriages and fun games at the entrance to the Pier including Pin the Patch on the Pirate, Guess the Parrot’s name to win a parrot puppet and 4 in a row, as well as some free pirate themed colouring and word puzzles to complete. Pirate stilt walkers, Jack Sparrow and a vibrant group of pirates were wandering around the village greeting the visiting crews, New Forest Brass performed – with many members suitably dressed in pirate attire, and a Pirate Market and funfair rides added to the atmosphere. Hythe Alive would like to thank all the businesses, suppliers and volunteers who enabled the day to go ahead, and everyone that came along to enjoy the day!
