Black eld Flower Club welcomed Katie Baxter, Wessex and Jersey area demonstrator, to their September meeting. Katie has demonstrated for the club many times over the years. e title of her demonstration this time was ‘Tales from the Cutting Garden’. During the pandemic Katie started helping with gardening at the Passford House Hotel near Sway and still enjoys working there where her ower arranging skills are also needed. A painted wooden box was used for the rst design. Tall Japanese anemones, small purple alliums and pink sedum were inserted. Poppy seed heads and tiny terracotta pots on sticks added interest to the design. A pumpkin and a pot of heather completed the design. e second design featured a garden trug. Pink antirrhinums, pink snow berries, pink lisianthus, peach spray roses and large pink lisianthus were added - a very pretty asymmetrical design. A handtied bouquet came next and members were keen to watch and learn how to achieve this skill. Feathery foliage was used together with pale pink roses, peach gerberas, peach spray roses and pink snow berries. e bouquet was placed in a glass vase and two pumpkins were placed at the base to complete this design. is design was foam free and wet sand had been placed in a ower pot. Pink antirrhinums, euonymous, amaranthus, large pink lisianthus, orange crab apples and gerberas added. e pot was part of a large display complementing tall orange and black candles. Various containers were lled with similar owers and two pumpkins completed this design. Lime green voile was placed underneath the last design. A large metal urn was used for this design. Conifer and physocarpus were used for the outline before adding large heads of pink hydrangea, pink lisianthus and blush roses to nish the design. A most enjoyable a ernoon and beautiful arrangements. e next meeting will take place on Tuesday 14th October with a demonstration by Carole Stables entitled ‘As if by Magic’.
