Since its beginnings in 1980, Tools for Self Reliance has evolved from collecting and refurbishing unwanted trade e evening also saw the unveiling of a refreshed logo. Like the previous design, the new logo features a hand – a simple but powerful reminder of human connection at the heart of their work. e updated look represents a natural step forward, carrying forward what matters while re ecting the charity’s growth and future direction. Alongside the logo, a new strapline was introduced – We Build Working Futures – a phrase that speaks directly to the impact of the charity’s projects: helping people gain the skills, and con dence to shape their own livelihoods. CEO Sarah Ingleby said: “This anniversary is a chance to reflect on the thousands of lives that have been changed over the past 45 years, thanks to the generosity of our volunteers, partners, and supporters. But it’s also about the future – we are determined to reach even more people with the opportunities they need to transform their own working futures.” As Tools for Self Reliance looks forward to the next 45 years, the charity extends heartfelt thanks to all those who make its work possible – from volunteers in the UK to partners and trainees across Africa, and of course everyone who has donated in some way. e support helps raise as much as possible for their projects in Africa, as well as UK-based initiatives such as Building Heroes, which supports veterans into new careers. Supporters are invited to continue their involvement by donating, visiting the on-site shop, or simply sharing its story. Every action makes a di erence. Among the award recipients was long-standing volunteer and advocate, Janet Moody, who was named an Honorary Lifetime Ambassador. Speaking at the event, Janet said: “Being part of Tools for Self Reliance is a wonderful privilege. I’ve seen first-hand how a refurbished toolkit or a training opportunity can change someone’s entire future.
