Want something di erent to send to friends and family? Need something useful for next year? If yes then the ‘Marchwood Calendar’ could be just the answer. e calendar contains various views in and around the village and costs just £5.99. Copies can be obtained, in person, from the Marchwood Parish Council O ce, Marchwood Village Hall, at the Village Centre. e Parish Council O cers have kindly agreed to sell the calendar, on behalf of the Refurbishment Fund, but ONLY between 9.30am and 12 noon on Mondays to Fridays. e calendar has been produced by the Marchwood War Memorial Refurbishment Fund 2020 as part of their fundraising e ort to raise in the region of £7,500 to cover the cost of the refurbishment of the War Memorial and, hopefully, if funds permit, repairs to the surrounding footpath. All pro ts from the sale of the calendar will go towards the cost of the proposed work. As previously reported the War Memorial will be 100 years old in October 2020 and the plan is to have it brought back to its former glory in time for a re-dedication service on its centenary date. Further information regarding both the calendar and the Refurbishment Fund can be obtained via their e-mail mwmrf2020@gmail.com Donations can also be made via the Fund’s ‘Just Giving’ page at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/ mwmrf2020 NEW FOREST KNOWLEDGE CONFERENCE Built Environments in the New Forest: Past, Present and Future e New Forest isn’t all about trees, animals and grazing. e question being posed this year is how much do you know about the buildings of the New Forest? e New Forest Heritage Centre’s Ecademy Project is hosting this year’s New Forest Knowledge conference entitled Built Environments in the New Forest: Past, Present and Future. It will take place at the Lyndhurst Community Centre on Friday 1st November between 9.45am and 4.30pm. Speakers include researchers and representatives from New Forest District Council, Avon Valley A r c h a e o l o g i c a l Society, University of Winchester, New Forest National Park Authority and New Forest Heritage Centre, as well as one of the editors of the revised Hampshire: South , Pevsner guide to the Buildings of England. Giles Gould, Centre Manager, said: “The history of the Forest never ceases to amaze me, nevermore than when I consider its manmade structures. They are so much an integral part of a history that is often ignored, however unintentionally. We hope this conference will shed some light on what is a complex and fascinating history”. Join them to consider how buildings and structures have shaped, and themselves been shaped by, the Forest. The New Forest Knowledge conference is part of the National Lottery Heritage funded Our Past, Our Future landscape partnership scheme. Tickets cost £20 and can be purchased via e New Forest Heritage Centre website at www. n e w f o r e s t h e r i t a g e . o r g . u k / E v e n t / n e w - f o r e s t - k n o w l e d g e - conference-2019 or in person at the Centre.
