During April Kay and John will be moving their shoes, slippers and other footwear stock that they currently have in KJ’s Mobility shop to KJ’s Roomy Footwear at No. 1 High Street, Hythe, (next to the Ferry and the bus stop) ready for the new shop opening. is will give them increased space to stock more choices of footwear from their existing suppliers; Cosyfeet, DB shoes, Easy B, Sandpiper and Padders. Look out for the new sign in April. Kay said: “ We look forward to looking after you with your footwear requirements.” NEW SHOES? is year’s ‘Dementia Action Week’ (DAW) takes place between 11th and 17th May . Members of Romsey Dementia Action Group (ROMDAG) are planning a jam-packed week of events, when those living with Dementia and/or their carers will be able to try out lots of di erent activities and treatments. ere will be fun sessions of: Zumba Gold; PomFitness; the Memory Choir; and ‘Music to Unlock Memories’; along with taster treatments of hand massages and meditation; and ‘have a go’ exercise sessions ‘steady & strong’ and ‘Forever Active’. ere really will be something for everyone, and further events are continuing to be added. Greenbuttercup CIC runs activity groups for people living with Dementia twice a month in the Green Room at the Plaza eatre, Romsey (‘Arts & Cra s’ on the rst Friday of the month and ‘Sensory Experiences’ on the third Friday). During DAW, they will be hosting a FREE ‘Sensory Experience’ all about ‘Bees & Honey’ on Friday 15th May . is will take place from 10.30am until 12.30pm and is open to anyone, who is living with a dementia and their carer or, who is interested in nding out more about Greenbuttercup CIC’s Dementia Services. ey will have a visiting beekeeper, who will not only bring along his beekeeping gear for them to look at and try on, but also an observation hive complete with live bees. ey will have di erent honey-based foods to taste, products to smell, and a bee-themed ra e. For a donation, participants will also be able to plant-up a pot of owers to attract bees to their own gardens, or make a bee hotel. ey will also have an Admiral Nurse present during the morning, who will be able to tell you everything there is to know about what the Admiral Nurses do and how they can help people living with Dementia. Visitors are very welcome to drop in for a cuppa at any time and for as long as they like. So, why not go along and see what the ‘buzz’ is all about. Parking is available behind the Plaza eatre in the ‘unnumbered spaces’ and entry is by the side door up the accessible ramp. ey hope to see you there. Take part in Badminton, Table Tennis, Short Mat Bowls, the Gym and a Stretching class. All nished o with tea, co ee and a natter with some lovely people. ere are also fun day trips and a tournament every year. Whether you have just turned 50 or are closer to 90 you can join; the oldest member is 91. First session free, then £4.85 non-member or £4.35 member. Are you a Nifty Fifty?
