Years have gone by you don’t know what you can’t see Besides you drove awfully close to that parked tree! I had planted the seed of doubt in his mind So an understanding optician we must find. One who knows the printed page is now small And the distant vista is misty for all! Yes Sir, for your years, the vision is quite good We can improve it I’m sure, well, some glasses should! They will enlarge the irritating small print Make clear the misty distance, even with this tint! You’d think it would now be all tickety-boo But these glasses grew legs, believe me its true! It’s unbelievable the places they went When eventually found be battered and bent I’ve found them in the garden among the many shrubs Just sat upon the ground looking at the grubs! They’ve hidden in the shed for many, many days They’re rarely in the place through which the eyes can gaze! Have you seen my glasses? I’m sure I had them here Maybe that was yesterday, could have been last year! I find them an encumbrance; there’s nothing I can’t see I’ll not let those wandering spectacles be the death of me!
