Closing date: 28th March 2022 HERALD RECRUITMENT WHO AM I? by Kaitlyn, aged 10 (at the time of publication) I am a military child, resilient strong and brave, I’m used to plans being broken, but the best memories are made. Part of my heart o en travels, but I travel too, for when I look up at the moon, I know my parent has a similar view. People ask where I come from – I simply say ‘ e World’, I’ve travelled near and far since I was a baby girl. I’ve had many houses and many schools too, but all of this is part of the journey, the experience and sometimes the hurt feelings too. I am a military child, resilient strong and brave, I’m used to plans being broken, but the best memories are made. My parent is a soldier, a hero to me, they serve amongst an army which means sometimes they have to leave. My parent wears a uniform, that’s recognised around the world, he serves Queen and Country, but I’ll always be his little girl. I am a military child, resilient strong and brave, I’m used to plans being broken, but the best memories are made. Everywhere I travel, new friends I have to make, but I o en feel sel sh because I’m putting their feelings at stake. ese friends o en become family, because ours is too far apart, but the military community is always kept together at heart. I am a military child, resilient strong and brave, I’m used to plans being broken, but the best memories are made. I know to you my life seems crazy, and most birthdays my parent has missed, but I’m proud of the hero he’s become, and the experience this hectic life gives. I am a military child. Kaitlyn, Thank you from everyone in the Herald Community this is a wonderful insight and you are VERY talented. Keep those poems coming!
