It works on a totally voluntarily basis, and is always on the look-out for more drivers. It’s an interesting vocation, very rewarding, and the drivers get to drive all over the County if they want to. At the AGM, Valerie Allpress, Chairman of the Group welcomed newcomers to the organisation and also put out a plea for more volunteers. Two new volunteers were welcomed on board, as it were. Karl Jung, who was a new volunteer a year ago, at the last AGM, was elected new Vice-President, and an existing member of the group, was elected as the new Secretary. Sylvia Charlesworth was thanked for the many years she has put into the Group as Secretary Other items that were discussed and passed, were the intention to contribute £1,000 to the Ukraine appeal, and election of David Tiller as an honorary member of the Group. He had spent years of service with Two Bridges, and was thanked for all his contributions. For more information call: 023 8020 7623 or email: office. fm.hurc@gmail.com Blue Lamp Trust Continues to Provide Free Home Safety Visits to Hampshire and Isle of Wight’s Most Vulnerable by Wes Hutchins (Police, Corporate Communications Officer, Hampshire and Isle of Wight) Hampshire Constabulary wanted to share an update with you from our partners, The Blue Lamp Trust, of which our Chief Constable Olivia Pinkney is a Trustee. e Blue Lamp Trust runs a scheme, which it has done so throughout and now beyond the current COVID-19 pandemic, called the Bobby Scheme. It provides free home security visits, long-life smoke alarms and advice to vulnerable residents in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, particularly the elderly and victims of burglary and domestic abuse. A full crime prevention and re safety survey is carried out by one of their specialist trained, police-vetted, tters. ey will provide both general and speci c crime and re prevention advice to improve resident home safety. When appropriate their tters will t items such as locks, spy-holes, door chains and smoke alarms, etc. is service is completely free. e Bobby Scheme can also supply and t police approved key safes for a small donation. e Bobby Scheme is free to those who are vulnerable due to age (over 65), circumstance, disabled, or a victim of household crime.
