Hall in Dibden Purlieu From Liz Drake e W.I. Community Hall in Lunedale Road, Dibden Purlieu (previously the W.I. Hall), will be 100 years old later this year. We are trying to put together a complete history of the hall. Can you add to our history notes? Old Bicycle Wheels Wanted for Romsey Festival Community Art Project Transition Town Romsey, in conjunction with the ree Rivers Community Rai l Partnership, are planning an art installation for this year’s Romsey Festival in July. Local community groups are being invited to decorate old bicycle wheels, which will then be installed on the fence at the back of Romsey Railway Station for the duration of the Festival. e aim of the artwork Old bicycle wheels wanted for Romsey Festival Community Art Project is to encourage Romsey residents to consider reducing their carbon footprint by travelling by bike and or train. If anyone has any old bicycle wheels, which they could donate to the project – any size, type and with or without tyres – please contact: transitiontownromseyweebly@gmail. com . More information about Transition Together can be found at: transitiontogether.org.uk Good Friday Concert in Beaulieu Abbey Following on from the enormous success of the sell-out Messiah concert at Christmas, Beaulieu Abbey are presenting a concert of stunning Easter Music on Good Friday (7th April). e Abbey Choir, conducted by Professor George Richford will be joined for the rst time by e Pelham Band, a new professional ensemble set up in memory of Michael Pelham who sadly passed away last year. ey will sing music for Good Friday including Pergolesi’s devastating ’Stabat Mater’ and Bach’s beautiful Cantata number 12 in a 1 hour concert in a dimly-lit and evocative Abbey Church. professional Abbey Choir who are causing quite a stir in the local area. Members of the Pelham Band include the very best local players, Tiggy Brearley on Oboe, Charlotte Gallagher on violin, George Castle on continuo and Jack Bond on double bass, amongst others.
