Dell’s mother o en said to him as a child that he should write a book, and following a conversation with his sister Amanda about the gnomes in their garden, with Gerry the disco-dancing gnome, Cedric and his in atable pink amingo, Hawaiian Annie in her Hula skirt and Myrtle the old lady who loves gardening. As well as the gnomes are two chubby, very lazy cats and a pesky mouse. Dell has previously written a non- ction book ‘ e Royal Hotel’ about his family who ran the hotel in Lime Street, Liverpool in the early 1900’s.
