Originally opened by Mr Borwell in 1947, e Barber Shop was taken over by John Mason in 1954 and Gerry Decarluchio in 1969, who ran it until 1977, when Ron E emy then bought the shop. Finally Alice Campbell and Malcolm Hill bought the business from Ron in 1991 running the Barber Shop, along with barber Barry until they closed at the end of March. Keen to mark each historic milestone Alice, Malcom and Barry were famed locally for their fabulous celebrations for the Barber Shop’s anniversaries, including the 75th Anniversary last year, stepping Left to Right: Alice, Malcolm and Barry celebrating the 75th anniversary last year back in time to the 1940’s and dressing up in period clothes, playing forties era music and dressing the outside of the shop with bunting and vintage vehicles. Alice, Malcom, Barry and Julie comment: “We would like to thank all our customers in the past for all for their custom. We will really miss seeing everybody.” An incredible £6,499.35 has been raised for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance through fundraising sales organised by Doreen Hosey at Jubilee Hall in Fawley last year. Donations accepted include: duvets & pillows, sleeping bags, blankets, crockery, food, baby food, baby supplies, nappies, toiletries, new underwear, pet supplies and medical supplies – NO CLOTHES.
