How about trying a new sport? How about Golf? ‘Girls Golf Rocks’ is a national programme, organised by England Golf, o ering girls aged 5-18 years, a friendly and fun way to learn and play golf. Bramshott Hill Golf Club with Nathan Cook, a golf professional, and Mytime Active are very excited to have been selected to o er girls in the area this 6-week beginner’s course. is fun coaching course comprises six hour-long sessions on Saturday mornings at 10am, spread over consecutive weeks at Dibden Golf Centre. Golf clubs can be provided. e rst session is on Saturday 13th May, 10am, at Dibden Golf Centre (Main Road, Dibden, Southampton SO45 5TB). e price for six hours of coaching, a goodie bag and much more is just £40. For more information about ‘Girls Golf Rocks’ and how to register please email: bhgcjuniorgolforganiser@ gmail.com Calshot Youth Ski Club End of Season Awards Calshot Youth Ski Club celebrated the end of their 40th Anniversary season with a presentation of awards on 23rd March. e skiers progress throughout the season is recognized with Snowsport England Snowlife Awards. Eight members this season achieved a 3-star award, and ten a 4-star. Two members who were with the club for a shorter time achieved 1-star and 2-star awards. Also presented were 13 bronze, 12 silver and 12 gold medals for the annual series of slalom races. With two equal teams skiing head to head just before the presentations, 7 rst-place and 7 second-place medals were also presented. e standard of skiing this season was high, which made gaining a medal an additional challenge. ree members who just lost out by hundredths of a second were presented with Well Done medals. is has been their most successful season for some time with members squeezing every last second of their time on the slopes each week. e instructor team have been impressed by the enthusiasm, dedication and hard work shown by all members, and look forward to three senior members beginning their ski instructor training this summer in time for next season which starts in November. Snowsport England Snowlife Award winners 2023 Slalom Race medalists Manor C of E Infants Athletes Bring Home the Bronze! On Saturday 18th March, a group of enthusiastic young athletes fromManor C of E Infant School joined other local children to take part in the Key Stage 1 Athletics Competition at Testwood Secondary School. It was organised through the New Forest Sports Partnership who provide a wide variety of sports events throughout the year o ering children from local New Forest schools the opportunity to take part in gym festivals, cross country, football festivals, swimming and quick sticks hockey. Mrs Munns, PE leader at Manor, took a group of 8 children, 4 from Year 1 and 4 from Year 2, to take part in the various events making up the competition. e children took part in Ball Push, Speed Bounce, Target row, Standing Long Jump, Running and Relays. ey had prepared for the events by focussing on developing skills of speed, accuracy and strength in their school PE lessons. Mrs Munns said: “All the children arrived early in time to do their warm-ups before the competition started. They all participated exceptionally well, trying their best in every event and doing it all with a smile on their faces. I was incredibly proud of them all.” e team got third place overall in the competition and were presented with Bronze medals. Manor C of E Infants athletes bring home the Bronze! Family Movie Night Go along to St Anne’s Neighbourhood Centre in Warry’s Close on 21st April for a free screening of Matilda e Musical, open from 5.30pm, the screening starts at 6pm. ere will be hot dogs, popcorn and a tuck shop available. Blackfield & Langley YFC Soccer School e new Black eld & Langley YFC Soccer School is starting on Saturday 6th May. Run by fully quali ed coaches, the soccer school is for boys and girls aged 4 to 7 years old. e sessions will run 9am to 10am on Saturdays and are purely based on children having fun, making friends and positive learning.
