Young carers perform a role far beyond their years, providing care for an o en chronically or terminally-ill family member. Primarily they give emotional support in the home, but also take on practical tasks like cooking, cleaning and laundry. ese responsibilities a ect all areas of their life and over a third of our children struggle to concentrate at school, more than half su er with loneliness, and nearly all say they lack con dence and self-esteem. e Honeypot Children’s Charity supports over 2000 young carers every year, including approx. 500 children from across Hampshire and Dorset. ey o er a Wrapround support model, consisting of services that address the unique needs of young carers. At the heart of this support are annual residential respite breaks full of fun, locally delivered at Honeypot House just outside Exbury. ese are complemented by digital services including online themed workshops, and a Wellbeing Fund to help young carers access necessary life items. INEOS Lyndhurst O ce and e Childhood Trust are helping Honeypot provide support to young carers aged 5-12 by matching donations made between 6th–20th June via Honeypot’s website: www.honeypot.org.uk up to the appeal target of £100,000. Simmi Woodwal, Honeypot’s CEO expressing her delight commented: “Funds of this magnitude make a massive difference to Honeypot and to the lives of thousands of young carers. INEOS Lyndhurst Office and the Hampshire community’s support goes a long way in enriching the lives of disadvantaged young carers.
