It’s her unrivalled dedication to coaching that really sets Katie apart.” e award Judges said that Katie clearly demonstrates the values and dedication of a community coach, with all 4 members of the panel placing Katie 1st, saying: “Her commitment to her coaching career at a young age is inspiring and makes Katie one to watch for the future.” Katie comments: “I was so amazed that I had been noticed and then shortlisted for the Community Coach of the Year Award. Then to win the award is truly amazing. I feel really proud that I have won this and it is particularly special as it is an award from British Gymnastics and the sponsors.” Beaulieu Primary School PE teacher, Katie Hayes, has recently been named as the 2023 British Gymnastics Community Coach of the Year. Katie, who grew up locally in Fawley, is Head of TeamGym at Basingstoke Gymnastics, when she’s not teaching at the school. e nomination for the award said “Katie has shown incredible commitment to her coaching career. As a former gymnast herself, she applies her own experiences to help inform her coaching style. Katie goes out of her way to make sure that her sessions are inclusive for all her gymnasts no matter their ability. She always goes the extra mile for her gymnasts, and makes them sure of her confidence in them. Katie works closely with the welfare team to ensure her gymnasts receive the care and support Hythe and Dibden Parish Council are once again looking to highlight and thank members of the public who are working hard for the bene t of the local community, through their annual Community Spirit and Environmental Champion Awards. e nominations for both awards are open until Friday 7th July.
