It was well supported and members enjoyed the sunshine, having a drink, cake and a chat at the cafe. It was a good opportunity for catching up with club friends. Sunday 23rd April was the club’s own ‘Drive Out Day’ rally which coincided with the national ‘Drive It Day’. Both events were aimed at raising money for designated charities. New Forest club members assembled in the car park at the Empress of Blandings, Copythorne. Each driver paid an entry fee and was supplied with clear route instructions carefully devised to avoid holding up other road users. A ‘Drive Out Rally’ sign was handed out to attach to the front of the vehicles. When everyone was ready to leave, the instruction was given; “Drivers start your engines.” A 1959, grey, 2 door Morris Minor saloon led the convoy out of the car park. e route took the convoy of vehicles through many villages and the members received waves and smiles from people out for a stroll. A stop at the Horse and Groom in Woodgreen gave members the opportunity to enjoy a co ee or tea served with chocolate mini Easter eggs; a lovely touch. e convoy continued on route and nally returned to the Empress of Blandings car park. the Austin A30/A35 Owners’ Club members are continuing to enjoy the friendly, social atmosphere at their monthly meetings. Every meeting includes a ra e with many members leaving with a prize or two. e club holds regular quizzes, has speakers on various topics and club drive days. e club is always happy to welcome new members that are owners of any make of classic car, not forgetting those enthusiasts who appreciate them but don’t have one of their own, to go along and meet the club members with a view to joining. Members have a range of classic vehicles such as Bedford, Ford, Land Rover, Mercedes, M.G., Morris, Riley, Triumph and Volkswagen. The next meeting is on Thursday 8th June. Meetings take place on the second Thursday of each month, starting at 7.30pm, at Netley Marsh Community Hall, Woodlands Rd, SO40 7GH. Do go along and meet them. You will receive a warm welcome.
