Air Commodore Mike Gibson RAF (Retd) was meant to be playing on board the Viking Sun in Liverpool but instead played from his balcony in Hythe. A former Pipe Major of the RAF Central Flying School Pipe Band, he was proud to pay this tribute to all those who all those a ected by the War – and all wars. VE Day 75 was devised and planned by Pageantmaster Bruno Peek, who has organised many historic celebrations and international events for nearly 40 years. Air Commodore Mike Gibson RAF (Retd) Good Triumphs Over Evil Sue Kerrigan Harris has been fundraising for the Waterside Foodbank. Sue has been o ering a free art class online to watch her paint u y ducklings in exchange for a donation. Sue has raised almost £500 so far. Her young son, Oliver (who raised lots of money for koalas during the Australian res) wanted to raise some money too, so he set up a stand outside their house to sell bracelet kits “STAY SAFE STAY HOME” for the local children to buy for £2 each. e money was then going to be donated to the Waterside Food Bank. He sold some, but then at some point the following day they were stolen from their front door. e Marchwood community all came together and donated to Oliver’s fund. ey now have a Just Giving Page and he has raised £132 so far. www.justgiving.com/ crowdfunding/oliver-k-h Everyone in the village wanted to show Oliver that most people in the world are not thieves and that they are usually kind and thoughtful. He has also had donations through his letterbox with a very thoughtful letter from the Chairman of Marchwood Parish Council and his family.
