Several team members are in contact with clients therefore enabling them to keep in touch and o er support. If anyone a ected by cancer; a patient, a family member of a patient, a carer or anyone many hundreds of clients have used the Centre and have hopefully found understanding, warmth and support from the dedicated team of Befrienders and erapists. So great was the need, an extension was built and added to the original premises. ey had hoped to have a 10th Anniversary Celebration later this year but due to the Clovid-19 this now seems unlikely. is will now be put on hold. It has been an exciting and busy 10 years, albeit with ups and downs. e success of the Centre, as well as having an amazing team, has been the tremendous interest and support from the Community. ank you from everyone at Waterside Cancer Support Centre. e Centre will be ready to re-open and welcome clients as soon as circumstances make it possible. On Friday 29th October 2010 the Waterside Cancer Support Centre SAYS IT ALL... held its Opening Ceremony. After all the planning, preparations and training it was a very exciting day. Lawrie McMenemy, now President, of the centre went along and cut the tape. ey opened for Clients on Monday 1st November 2010. So now approaching their 10th Anniversary. Over the last 10 years, bereaved through Cancer, would like support, they can telephone the Waterside Centre (023 8178 0409) and this call will be re-directed within Wessex Cancer Trust to someone who can point them in the direction they need. Also, there is a telephone number available: 023 8051 6576 Monday to ursday from 10am until 3pm for help with any queries. Another alternative, you can access the Wessex Cancer Trust website which has information about the remote support on o er. e ‘Sing For Life’ Choir meet weekly via Zoom and are able to continue singing along together which is great fun. Congratulations and well done to a group of ladies from the Friendship Club who have been busy making Items of PPE for Key Workers. e local community are continuing to support the centre with donations and they are truly grateful. Hythe Rotary Club and Hythe & District Ladies Inner Wheel have both held events and donated and they are very appreciative of this. Will Lickey, a University Student living inMarchwood, was planning to run the Southampton Marathon in aid of WCSC. He has trained very hard over many months. e Marathon has not taken place but he will be running the distance in August. If anyone would
