Using one of their dinghies as a oat, captained by Eric Blyth along with his smaller version used to advertise for volunteers. Based at Testwood Lakes near Totton, TLS is run entirely by volunteers running sessions on Mondays and ursdays from April to the end of October, providing dinghy sailing for people aged 8 upwards with any disability. e experience can really open up new opportunities, new interests, is liberating and awakens the senses. e sensation of the breeze on the face, excitement as the wind lls the sails taking the boats across the lakes, wildlife, jumping sh - all things that bring smiles to faces, joyful experiences, old memories back for some, and brings sailors back to the lakes! TLS are hoping to recruit some new volunteers to help to run the operation, you don’t need to be a sailor to get involved, the team are looking for help with behind the scenes tasks including fundraising, event organizing, IT support, reception sta and making tea. TLS at Totton Carnival Guides Success at Copythorne Carnival Saturday 11th June saw the return of the Copythorne Carnival, Guides from 1st Copythorne Guide Company took part in the procession taking second place for their Rock and Roll Grease inspired oat – Guides is the word! is year’s carnival royalty included Guides from the Copythorne Company, Carnival Queen Lia and Carnival Princesses Alisha and Katie. Rio is coming to Romsey with the 2022 Romsey Summer Carnival taking place on Saturday 16th July; this year’s theme is Mardi Gras with a Jubilee Twist! Lots of events have taken place in the days leading up to the Carnival with Bingo and Quiz nights, a Bed Push and Fun Run. Hythe Wives have had a successful return to regular meetings with new members being welcomed, interesting speakers and events. A garden party was held on 3rd June to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum jubilee which was enjoyed by all who attended. e last meeting before the summer break will be on Friday 15th July with a social event. More details will be announced at upcoming meetings. ere will be no meetings in August and the rst meeting in September will be on Friday 2nd September.
