Whether your little one wants to be a reman, a hairdresser, a vet, café owner or shop assistant there is something for everyone in the I Wanna Be village of bespoke shops and buildings featuring the Beauty Boutique, e Lollipop Café, Aisle of Smiles Supermarket, a Vets and a Fire Station complete with its own Fire Engine. ey also have a full range of fancy dress costumes to let your child’s imagination run wild, and not to leave the parents out they also have some adult fancy dress costumes! e Village can be found on Abbotswood Common Road in Romsey (SO51 0BX) and is suitable for every child no matter what their ability/disability. ey have quieter sessions for those children who would maybe enjoy the experience more with fewer people and less noise. Run by Katie, a mum of two teenage daughters, she wanted to give parents a place to sit, relax, unwind without guilt; a place where their child is learning, developing and just enjoying being a child, with that in mind whilst your child is having fun you can sit back and relax in the café with a barista co ee or hot chocolate, or why not treat yourself to a delicious slice of cake! ey also o er a range of panini’s and sandwiches and a popular basket meal for the children with a sandwich, crisps, cake and vegetable sticks. ree, two hour sessions run each day at 9.30am, 12.30pm and 3.30pm. e 3.30pm weekday session includes a basket meal for the children – a fabulous a er school treat for the kids and one less job for the parents! On Friday 29th July they are running a Tennis Fun Day for Juniors and it is FREE. Taking place in the grounds of Holbury Community Sports Association, formerly the ‘Esso Club’, at 179181 Long Lane Holbury SO45 2PA. e programme is: 10am-11am for 5-8 years 11am-12.30pm for 8-11 years 1pm-3pm for 12-16 years e fun does not end there - an opportunity follows for coaching under the guidance of the same LTA Level 4 coach. Become a Lepe Environmental Champion Want to do something fun whilst exploring nature and protecting wildlife? Become a Lepe Environmental Champion! All you need to do is sign up for free at the visitor services desk between 10am and 3pm. You will receive an Environmental Champions passport, to keep track of what you have been doing, as well as ideas for activities to try. By completing three tasks each week, during the summer holidays, you can make a big di erence to your local area and most importantly have lots of fun! Don’t forget to go back and show them what you have been doing and collect your certi cate when you have completed your passport. WATERSIDE TENNIS CLUB FUN DAY AND COACHING A Blue Plaque will be unveiled on e Grove building in Hythe later this month to commemorate Hovercra inventor Sir Christopher Cockerell and all those who worked on the development of the hovercra at the site. A largememorial statue for Sir Christopher can already be found in the gardens behind e Grove. e new Plaque will also acknowledge the many local people who furthered the development of the hovercra and the hover train as well as the signi cance of e Grove and the gardens that contained the testing tanks and tracks. e plaque will be unveiled on 25th July marking the 63rd anniversary of the hovercra successfully crossing the English Channel. HPHA Expand Merchandising Range Hythe Pier Heritage Association (HPHA) has expanded its merchandising and souvenir range with new items available for Rock the Train and at Hythe Market until the 19th July. Special Centenary Bandana Teddy Bears and metal pin badges can be bought as souvenirs of the special occasion along with Rock the Pier 2022 T-shirts, Hythe Pier Railway sweatshirts and polo shirts in various sizes and a variety of colours. Also available are adult twill caps in blue or green, cu ed knitted beanie caps and children’s baseball caps in a variety of colours. New sets of coasters, pens and pin badges as well as Alan Titheridge’s book ‘The Heartbeat of Hythe’ complete the range. Grand Ra e tickets will be on sale until the commencement of the Rock the Pier music event. Prizes, kindly donated by local businesses and individuals, include tickets for boat cruises on SS Shieldhall and Blue Funnel Cruises, Hythe Ferry tickets, meal or drinks vouchers from various local restaurants and cafes, vouchers from other local shops and businesses, a car service at Hythe Garage and entry tickets to Exbury Gardens. A group of 7 friends will be holding a selling exhibition of a wide variety of original paintings and cards at e Community Centre, Central Car Park, o the High Street, Lyndhurst, SO437NY. e exhibition is open from 10am until 5pm from 30th July to 3rd August, and will be open from 10am until 4pm on 4th August.
