Catherine is passionate about food poverty and wanted to highlight the issue in this novel, with Yvonne’s place of work being the local food bank, with many scenes set in the Waterside Foodbank. Since writing the novel Catherine has gone on to walk 100 miles for FareShare and plans to make a donation to the real Waterside Foodbank to help support the work that they do. Probus Clubs are for retired people to join and enjoy monthly meetings and meet with likeminded people. ey have a friendly atmosphere, and involve members with the activities. e club is directed primarily to provide friendship between members, and the opportunity of meeting new people. e programme involves a social get together, followed by a three course lunch and an informative talk. Some of the talks for this year are, ‘Life in the Royal Marines’ by Simon Morgan and ‘Shopping in the High Street in the 1940-50’s’ by John Pitman. Also, additional activities between meetings, recently introduced, where members visit local Garden Centres and places of interest for morning co ee. Totton and District Probus Club Book SONGS-4-U for Christmas Performances Hythe’s Mistletoe Fair will take place on Saturday 2nd December coinciding with Small Business Saturday. Save the Date! Mistletoe Fair Local choir SONGS-4-U, are now taking bookings for Christmas performances.
