Adger Brown greeted guests as compere and Magician Colin Phillips was on hand to entertain with his mindblowing talent.  ere was an auction with items such as a day’s sailing on the Solent, donated by Bill Blain. Ennio’s lunch with wine from the Mustang Group. A wonderful beauty hamper from SB Selected Beauty Ltd. Curtis Stigers Live Show, Dinner Bed and Breakfast package donated by the Concorde Club. As well as two VIP Box Show packages for ‘Musicals form the Heart’ Heartbeats 30th Anniversary Celebration show at the May ower. Guests were invited to raise money by a pledge promise to support a working day for Becky Cutler, Heartbeat’s Psychological Support Cardiac Youth Worker.  e role costs £26,000 a year and the pledges will keep this role funded. Harry Shields, congenital heart patient and Heartbeats Guernsey Ambassador, spoke, along with Becky passionately, about how this will make a huge di erence psychologically to help cardiac patients aged 11-25 years. e evening ended with a great show from ‘Princes of Motown’ who wowed everyone with all the greatest hits from the Motown era. CEO Mark Ind also mentioned the 3D pioneering project and they had many donations to support the campaign, where the creation of the heart can enable the cardiac team to look closer at the heart and any imperfections before the surgery is carried out.  ey were delighted at the response to their unique and life changing projects. Tina Tolley, Donor Development Manager said “The evening was a huge success, and we cannot thank everyone enough for their generosity on the night. We appreciate every penny is precious these days, and we are eternally grateful for the response to our cause and in turn raising such a phenomenal sum”. Whether helping to apply for the Council’s housing list, assisting with queries along the way, even supporting applications for grants to equip the place. “Having volunteers with skills and time to listen & support our visitors through an often uncertain time”, says Andy Clarke, Project Leader “...it’s great when those we’ve helped come and tell us their good news. When our big blue banner is up outside at our venues in Marchwood, Hythe and Blackfield I always think passers by can know there’s good stuff happening inside.” Dave, pictured, was one such visitor who popped in on the day he received his keys to say thank you. He also appeared on a recent BBC article on hidden homelessness featuring e Crossings work. Another lady wrote to say “I want to thank everyone at The Crossings for all the help they gave me to go ‘live on line’ at the home search at the NFDC. You all gave me such support.” The Crossings have forged strong relations with New Forest District Council’s Housing and Homelessness Teams and have bene tted from the NFDC’s Community Grant this year and a grant from the Dibden Allotments Fund, together with donations from local organisations and inviduals enabling this valuable work to continue. World Homelessness Day is marked on Tuesday 10th October and e Crossings will have a display at Hythe library all that week to raise awareness. is is part of a ‘roadshow’ at various venues up and down the Waterside this year. ‘Drop-In At Home’ is the latest initiative, aiming to give encouragement and support to people moving into their own accommodation. Many folk who have lived with the trauma of homelessness nd the prospect of responsibility for their own place overwhelming. is new initiative has been designed to walk alongside them as they make this transition.
