Using mainly wood, their skilled volunteer cra smen produce a wide range of items including garden seats and benches, picnic benches, planters and even children’s sand/water play tables. For the wildlife in the garden they also handcra bird boxes and bird feeders. With Christmas on the way Fawley Mensshed also make fabulous wooden reindeer decorations complete with a Rudolf red nose. e cra smen can produce items from either stock designs or they can make items speci c to your needs. e volunteers have even made a bridge for Holbury Manor. All the products are charged at a reasonable price and the proceeds from the sales go to charity. Banishing loneliness and isolation isn’t easy, which is why Men’s Sheds encourage local communities to come together to build, x and restore projects, as well as themselves! e Fawley Mensshed was initiated by Fawley Parish Council and o cially started in November 2018. Entertainment starts at 2pm on the day with a market and a mini fair. Santa will be around this year and refreshments will be on sale at the Totton and Eling Community Centre. e procession itself will line up from 4.30pm and marches o at 5pm, starting from the War Memorial and moving o towards the main Worldstores roundabout. is year’s theme is all about the fairies, sprites, elves and pixies that live in the New Forest disguised as moths and butter ies normally, but are visible to children over Christmas. More than 500 people will be taking part including participants from Eling Infants School, New Forest Home School Group, Oak elds School, Forest Edge School, Southampton Foster Carers group and members of the public. ere will also be a garden to walk past where fairies and elves can be spotted a er the lantern procession has nished!
