Est., Hythe 023 8084 0163 CLASSIC CAR CLUB – ‘Looking After Bodywork’ The Southampton and New Forest Group of the Austin A30/A35 Owners’ Club members are continuing to enjoy the friendly, social atmosphere at their monthly meetings. Every meeting includes a ra e with many members leaving with a prize or two. e club holds many events throughout the year with speakers on various topics, picnics, quizzes, car meets, club drive days and an annual charity auction. Club News On ursday 26th October, members met for their monthly out and about road trip. e venue was Headlands Farm Co ee Shop, Romsey Road, West Wellow. It was well attended with some members bringing their classic vehicles. e event was enjoyed by everyone. On ursday 9th November the club was given another in house talk this time by the Chairman on the subject of bodywork and paintwork repairs. He set up a steel front wing panel to explain the process and stages of repairing, the tools needed, llers and abrasives. He also gave information on primers and top coat techniques to achieve the nal nish to the repair. e members were able to share their own experiences of problems they had encountered and overcome. e speaker emphasised that when there is rust damage it must be cut out completely and replaced with a new piece of steel because, if le , it will in time a ect the work done. Many classic vehicles will, from time to time, need repairs to both bodywork and paintwork so members found the talk interesting, helpful and enjoyable. e club is always happy to welcome new members that are owners of any make of classic car, not the club members with a view to joining. Members have a range of classic vehicles such as Bedford, Ford, Land Rover, Mercedes, M.G., Morris, Riley, Saab, Triumph and Volkswagen enabling the club to expand the membership. Why not drop in for a taster visit, a tea or coffee and share any of your classic car experiences with members? You will receive a warm welcome. One of the best places in the south to see stunning supercars up close, the Beaulieu Supercar Weekend will be going down a storm on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th August, with impressive displays and action-packed demonstrations. Celebrating the excitement and the variety of the supercar world, the demonstration runs and sound-o are always show highlights, while world-class hypercars will be on show on the lawns of Beaulieu’s Palace House. Spring Autojumble will be taking place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May with a vibrant MoggyFest display and all kinds of motoring treasures on o er. At International Autojumble on 14th and 15th September, there will be hundreds of stands to browse for bargains as part of a huge weekend of buying and selling action. While the Custom and American Show on Father’s Day Sunday 16th June will bring together all manner of eye-catching motors, from glitzy American classics to jaw-dropping hot rods. Beautiful Borders and vibrant ower displays, to plants and gardening supplies for sale, plus expert advice, the BBC Good Food Market, street food, musical entertainment and more, there will be so much to see.
