Starting at 7pm, Stewart will guide attendees through how he uses oil paint in a loose or, as some might say, an impressionistic way to create a coastal scene. Stewart was a heat participant on Sky’s Portrait Artist of the Year and Landscape Artist of the Year. In recent years, he has exhibited at both the Royal Society of Portrait Painters (RP) and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI) annual exhibitions at Mall Galleries in London. He is an Associate of the ROI, and is currently a resident artist at Palais Des Vaches Gallery here in the New Forest. “We’re thrilled that Stewart has accepted our invitation,” says Peter York, Chair of Waterside Art Group. “I’m looking forward to hearing about his approach to painting and watching him apply his skills in this demonstration.” e demonstration is open to all and will take place instead of the Art Group’s usual Tuesday evening art session. e entry fee will be £5 per person (members and non-members). Waterside Art Group is an informal gathering providing a relaxed and supportive environment for anyone –beginners, improvers and experienced artists alike – who enjoy making art. ey meet on Tuesday evenings, 7pm to 9pm, at Hythe and Dibden Community Centre in Brinton Lane, o Jones Lane, Hythe SO45 6DU.
