Her interesting recycling tips and techniques for the mechanics used in ower arranging were very welcomed. Before we started, Val and Margaret were presented with trophies won at the Bartley Village Show - Val for her specimen rose and Margaret for garden foliage - well done ladies! Sue’s rst arrangement was “Autumn Rebirth”, a crescent shaped, pedestal arrangement using Agrawool. Agrawool requires lots of water, is plant friendly, compostable and can be contained within chicken wire (Sue uses compostable poo bags) to prevent it breaking apart. This was a gorgeous arrangement with autumnal colours included. It was high sided and low centrally. She incorporated Bells of Ireland, camellia leaves, Crocosmea, twigs, sunflowers, Colombian roses-twilight orange, contrasting blue delphiniums and fern to ll-in. Beautiful! e second arrangement was inspired by “Watership Down”. Sue played “Bright Eyes” by Simon and Garfunkel while demonstrating. A fridge tray was recycled as a container, painted black, with cherry and oak branches glued to the front and lled with cartons of Agrawool to enable a parallel underside showing) and Bells of Ireland. e design was coloured with alternative lilac and orange roses and mauve lisianthus. As always, there were plenty of ra e prizes for a er refreshments! Next meetings: 6th November for a demonstration by Jo Richards - Winter Is The Season followed on 4th December for a Christmas party and Christmas table decoration competition! All meetings are held at Copythorne Parish Hall, SO40 2NZ. For more information contact Debbie orne: 07769 830 752. The Sorting Hat arrangement. Wall art was placed as a background and vertical lines were formed with Pussywillow, leatherleaf fern and interspersed with fairy lights. Camellia and leatherleaf provided foliage along the base. e darkness of the story was shown with Naomi rosesdeep red and Cappuccino roses. Varied and traditional pittosporum and viburnum tinis lled in the arrangement. A “VJ Day Celebration” arrangement was Sue’s third. She used an upturned cake tin on a pedestal and on top, within a basket, were 2x2 litre bottles. ese were joined sideways and a centre oval hole cut out to hold water. e cavities were taped in a grid to allow arranging. Union Jack bunting was draped down over. e red, white and blue arrangement included red Naomi roses, mauve lisianthus, white Avalanche roses, all in lots of layers. e fourth arrangement was to celebrate “A Special Birthday”. Sue recycled a basket like lampshadeupside-down with a oral bowl on top and Agrawool. Yew, Bells of Ireland and sun owers made a stunning vertical arrangement, dotted through with contrasting delphiniums. Tom Thumb Pittisporum (brown) lled in the base, to match the inside of the sun owers and fatsia leaves owed over the base. Sue’s grand nale was Harry Potter inspired, “The Sorting Hat”. is was an inverted crescent. During the demonstration Sue wore her sorting hat! A recycled toilet brush holder, sprayed black, with “Platform 9¾” written on it was the base of the pedestal. On top was a metal wire wheel and a cake tin with a plastic tri e case inside. e inverted crescent shape was created with roses, ivy, iliagnus (grey
