Not only in the form of adorable foals being so wonderfully shown-off by proud parents but by also playing host to one of the areas biggest events in recent times – and it did not disappoint. e Gardeners World Spring Fair at Beaulieu, 28th – 30th May, couldn’t have come at a more welcome time and as a keen (yet novice) gardener myself I was in my element. Held over 3 days e BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair took place in the beautiful open grounds of Beaulieu, home of BBC Gardeners World Presenter and Horticulturalist Adam Frost getting his hands dirty in the veg patch New Forest Shortbread showing off their latest, most delicious treats the National Motor Museum and the ancestral Montagu home Palace House. Upon entering the show, I was taken aback with how quintessentially British this event was – it embodied everything that we, as a nation, do so well. A er such a terrible 2020, you could feel the excitement of people being together (sensibly distanced and sanitised of course!) a er such a long period of darkness, the colours, sights, and sounds were intoxicating, and I was positively ‘giddy’! Strolling around and chatting to the many stall holders and visiting the wonderful display gardens I was thrilled to see so many local businesses, still as enthusiastically chatting to visitors on the Sunday as they were on the rst day of the show - the energy was infectious. Ready for refreshments we le the horticultural area and paid a visit to the food and entertainment zone, this did not disappoint. With a large selection of food on offer, wonderful areas to sit, relax and enjoy the entertainment performing in the bandstand, it was a good opportunity to sample some delights and partake in a drink, all in the name of research of course! With local sponsors, local category winners, local suppliers, local experts and so many visitors its easy to see why this event was popular with so many. Well done to everyone involved, it was a great way to kick o the summer. Getting into the spirit of things with HMS Gin
