So this year, a er a 3 years break for COVID-19, they will be putting on the show on Saturday 13th August , at the Royal British Legion, in Black eld. Foresters Flower Club dedicates this article to Marion Catt, our present Chairman, as a gesture of our sincere and grateful thanks for ALL she does for everyone! During the pandemic Marion, our lovely chairman, kept Foresters Flower Club alive and blooming, despite extreme difficulties in her private life. She kept enthusing and encouraging the Committee to keep the club alive and support all the members. is was done by telephone calls, a Christmas card, a “Da odil Drop” at the beginning of March and a bookmark delivery at Easter. e members were so appreciative and especially loved the bunch of da odils (plus a chat if they were in) on their doorsteps – this brought joy a er a long, lonely pandemic winter and there were so many thank you cards, phone calls and emails! Foresters Flower Club isn’t the only one to recognise how special (kind, considerate, supportive, conscientious and hard-working) Marion is, but also the Wessex and Jersey Area Branch of NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies). In October 2021 Marion was awarded the ‘Wessex and Jersey Associate of Honour’. is is a unique award, a very special honour in recognition of her diligent service to the Wessex and Jersey area. Marion always quietly gets on with tasks and anticipates all needs ahead, making everyone’s lives easier – she is so creative and modest. So modest as the secretary of the Wessex and Jersey area, she didn’t realise that the minutes she was taking were relating to her until someone told her that this was about her! We would all like to thank Marion, with all our hearts, for her dedication and creativity she so generously shares with so many people! Next meetings: • Thursday 3rd March: AGM and presentation by Jill Pelton ‘Homes and Gardens 1920’s/30’s’. • Thursday 7th April: Demonstration by Alison Finch ‘Well Read’. All meetings are held at Copythorne Parish Hall SO40 2NZ, 7.30 pm. For more information call Debbie Thorne on: 07769 830752. Chairperson Marion is deserving of a special mention for all her commitment and kindness
