TABLE TOP SALES Leading Heart Charity Launches First Annual Awareness Day As it enters its 30th year serving the community, Wessex Heartbeat is excited to announce a brand new awareness day. e rst Wessex Heartbeat Day will be held on 28th February with the aim to raise awareness of heart health, highlight the life-saving projects that it funds and celebrates the people that it supports. e Southampton based charity has been amuch-loved resource in the community since its launch in 1992, and has helped thousands of newborns, children and adults diagnosed with congenital and cardiovascular diseases through their close relationship with the Wessex Cardiac Centre. To kickstart the rst awareness day, supporters of the charity are encouraged to join Heartbeat’s exclusive 280 Club, an exciting fundraising initiative that asks each member to set a target of £280 for the charity and complete a challenge or fundraiser. Tina Hawke, Donor Development Manager at Wessex Heartbeat, explains: “An example of this could be, host the best bake sale your office has ever seen, you can challenge yourself by taking part in a marathon or sponsored walk, or you could even take on a skydive – the possibilities are endless.” Money raised onWessexHeartbeatDaywill go towards funding a number of vital schemes spearheaded by the charity, including Heartbeat House, the 25-bedroom “Home from home” for families of cardiac patients using Wessex Cardiac Centre, its crucial research in DNA Repair in patients with stable angina and equipment for 3D modelling so ware which supports the diagnosis process for children with congenital heart disease. Tina added: “Most of all, we want everybody to have fun and celebrate what our charity can do with the support of our fantastic community.
