As part of their celebrations for the Coronation Weekend, St Andrew’s Dibden Purlieu ran a Stolen Jewels Escape Game. e brainchild of Children’s and Youth Co-ordinator Helen Cheeseman, the game consisted of a video introduction, with clues and puzzles to solve. e video showed Rector Peter Toller being rung by the Police, to say they suspect the missing jewels are somewhere in the church building. e Rector appealed to those watching for help in nding the gemstones. Explaining the game before the event, Helen Cheeseman said: “Some of the Crown Jewels have been stolen and hidden in our church. Do you have what it takes to crack the clues, solve the riddles and locate the Jewels before the thief’s accomplice arrives?” Teams were invited to join in as part of the parish festivities for King Charles III’s Coronation, which also included an indoor community picnic, live music and dance showcases, traditional fete games and a bouncy castle, plus a livestream of the Coronation. Church Seeks Stolen Jewels- Rector appeals for help Watching the Coronation at St Andrew’s Applemore College Celebrate the Coronation Applemore College came together as a community for a whole school photo in celebration of the Coronation, followed by cake on the eld. Luckily they managed to nd a gap in the rain to get a shot of the pupils and sta spelling out APPLEMORE CIIIR. e College would like to thank 408photography for o ering their services to take the photo. Applemore College also celebrated by creating Union Flag inspired bunting and learning about the Royal Family during tutor times. Rain Did Not Stop Play! As part of ‘ e Big Help Out’ national day of volunteering on the Bank Holiday Monday of the Coronation weekend, Hythe & Waterside Rotary held two litter picks in the local area. Covering Hythe village centre and parts of Applemore they were joined by members of the public as well as a Rotarian’s 6 year old granddaughter who was taking part in her 3rd Rotary litter pick! Over a dozen bags of rubbish were collected during a dry spell on an otherwise rain soaked day. Local Councillor, Alex Wade, said: “Thank you for this incredible work tidying up our community”.
