Military displays executed with such precision All the training, gruelling practice, coming to fruition. Horses are groomed to perfection, their tack gleaming ultra-bright Escorts, for the performance of an ancient passage of rite. This act of crowning our Monarch, not seen for many a year The solemnity of anointing with reverential fear. Oaths of deep significance, regalia to grasp, to hold A crown encrusted with various jewels; centuries old Placed firmly on the head; as the music swells, choristers sing Then hush, as the voice of authority shouts. “God save the King”. The ritual now over, they process through the Abbey door To the waiting crowd of well-wishers, who give a mighty roar! A golden gilded coach awaits the newly crowned King and Queen As they slowly ride in majesty down The Mall, to be seen. The final touch to this day of splendid display is to view The fantastic Red Arrows, they paint the sky, red, white and blue! NEW JOB by Margaret Bell© She was so excited she’d got a new job! So full of happiness that she kissed her dog!! Now what should she wear on her very first day? Her clothes were limited until her first days pay… Opened her wardrobe took a look inside, When she saw her collection she let out a sigh! Everything she had was old and worn, Some of her clothes were faded or torn…. Now with this job she had to look nice, She couldn’t lose it at any price! With only a few pence and pounds in her purse, Things were going from bad to worse! Into town she had a good look round, In a charity shop some clothes she found! All brand new with tags still on ….. Her worries about clothes had upped and gone! Up early now to begin her new job, Now is her chance to earn a few Bob, Dressed so smartly from head to toe! Now she was ready her face was aglow…. Into the shop where she was eager to start, All she could feel was her beating heart, The charity shop where she bought her clothes, Is the shop she is working, it’s the one she chose! The Coronation of King Charles III by Dorothy Lockyer© When oh when will the sun come out, It’s supposed to be spring, But I think it’s gone walkabout. Being a patient nation that we are, It’s disappointing that it’s been hidden so far, Clouds galore, wind and rain, We’ve had the lot. Is it Winter again? But cheer up, it cannot last for ever. It will come out And last for ever. When Oh When Will The Sun Come Out by George Jenkins© I just love my cat. So! What’s wrong with that. I’ve had her since lockdown! From a Centre in Town. She’s polite and she’s tidy, a real little old lady. Over the years 6 cats have I loved. But, this girl is devoid, Of hissing, spitting or scratching and no eas, ticks or trashing e furniture and carpets are intact! She’s the best and that’s a fact. I asked for a cat that was vocal! And yes! You can hear when she’s local But I like that you see, because she’s talking to me. What I can’t understand is how, she was put up for adoption but, now I’m glad she lives with me, and do hope that we will be Together for a few more years! When she departs there will be tears. Neither of us is young anymore. Oh! Oh! She’s here at the door, Excuse me while I top up her food, or she might think I’m just plain rude!! With grateful thanks to the Cat Protection Centre in Southampton. I found you alone, bathing on the lake at midnight, dark water re ecting you naked. Heedless in the deep lagoon, we made love in silken bliss, I entering you owing over me, entwining under the summer stars. When my feet touched the ne shingle, I was bound once more to the earth. But you remained coy, winking from my retiring wake; your silver smile, shimmering above the distant mountains. Swimming by Moonlight by Richard A Labram© BACK SEAT VIEW by Jim Dolbear© Mum I enjoyed seeing Nanny, It was such a lovely day. I saw the lambs in the fields, And the horses eating hay. But why is it when Daddy, Takes us for a little ride. He changes from a Jekyll, Into naughty Mr. Hyde. Why did he honk on his horn, Giving that old man a fright. He was only indicating left, Then decided to turn right. The lady who stepped in the road, Looked like my dear Nan somehow. But I don’t agree with Daddy, She looked nothing like a cow. He went through the traffic lights, When they were not even green. Lucky a policeman wasn’t there, So Daddy was never seen. Give way signs mean what they say, They are there for all our sakes. Good job the other car saw us, And managed to apply his brakes. Mummy I am sleepy now, I don’t want to make a fuss. But next time we see Nanny, Can we go and take a bus.
