The plaque will be placed on the wall in the imaging department and reads – ‘The John Carr Imaging Suite’. John Carr, has been Chairman of Hythe Hospital League of Friends for many years. He has been instrumental along with other members of the League in organising many, if not all the existing clinics and services would transfer to the new hospital with additional ones as required. e group also helped to design the war memorial and decide what stone would be used. e decision was made with the help of a local British Legion representative. e Stakeholders looked over the design of the building, making suggestions of changes where necessary. John led this group helping to make many di cult and timeconsuming decisions and choices, to ensure that the voice of local people would be respected. e award was well deserved. A er the plaque was presented, a celebration cake was cut by John to mark the event and photographs were taken. Sir Julian Lewis MP presenting the plaque to John Carr John Carr cutting the celebration cake fund-raising events, liaising with sta in the hospital regarding any equipment that the League could provide and the day to day running of the Leagues voluntary activities. In 2010 John also undertook the role of Chairman of the Hospital Project Stakeholder Group, initiated by South West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group. e group included representatives from the local community including councillors, past and present, retired sta , a British Legion representative, and a GP. e group worked tirelessly with the Clinical Commissioning Group to ensure that the new hospital was built and that the services hosted there were those required by local people. e aim was to ensure that as Hampshire Search and Rescue Reaches 1000 Callouts Hampshire Search and Rescue (HANTSAR) responded to a call from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary to look for a missing person on the evening of 25th March, marking their 1000th Callout. Formed in 2003, the allvolunteer charity who search for vulnerable and at-risk missing people on behalf of the police, will celebrate their 20th Anniversary this year. For the Charity the 1000th calloutmilestone has o ered a time for reflection, thinking about those they have tried to help over the years and their families, as well as a reminder of the unwavering commitment of their trained volunteers, past and present, and the support given by their families. e forthcoming 20th Anniversary will be a time for re ection and a time to plan and build upon their achievements to continue to support the Community.

Dressed in the very Robin costume he performed in on Season 2 of Masked Singer, Aston sang two songs before revealing the famous face behind the mask, as well as enjoying a Masked Singer themed Happy Meal® with the kids. Ronald McDonald Houses provide free ‘home away from home’ accommodation, allowing families across the UK and abroad to remain close to their child whilst they are in hospital. e location of these Houses means that families can be by their child’s bedside in a matter of moments and maintain a degree of normality during very di cult times. Aston Merrygold said: “This was my second time visiting a Ronald McDonald House with McDonald’s and I was honoured to be able to perform for some of the families and help brighten their day. The work that Ronald McDonald House Charities UK does in supporting families, who are going through some of their toughest moments, is truly inspiring and I’m delighted to be working with McDonald’s to raise awareness for such an important charity.” McDonald’s is the charity’s biggest supporter, raising more than £100m for the charity since 1989 and helping many thousands of families. Becky Baines, Deputy House Manager at the Southampton House said: “We were over the moon to welcome Aston to the Southampton House and it was great to see the smiles on the children’s faces as Aston revealed himself as the famous face behind the mask. We’re so grateful to McDonald’s and Aston for their support raising awareness and vital funds which mean our charity can continue its important work.” Inner performers will be unleashed as e Masked Singer arrives to McDonald’s Happy Meal® across the UK! e new promotion sees the larger-than-life costumes available as plush toys in each Happy Meal® until 2nd May. Featuring Aston’s Robin alongside Panda, Queen Bee, Badger and more, there are ten unique fan-favourite plush toys from e Masked Singer to collect. Aston Merrigold performing as Masked Singer Robin Concert Report from Solent Concert Orchestra A very successful concert was given by the Solent Concert Orchestra at the Chandlers Ford Methodist Church on Saturday 11th March, in support of Wessex Cancer Trust. e highlight without doubt being Simon Wilkins’s virtuoso performance of the Saint-Saens Cello Concerto No.1 in A minor, it richly deserved the encore it was given. e a ernoon opened with four movements from Bizet’s ‘L’Arlesienne Suites Nos. 1 and 2. All sections of the orchestra were featured in this contrasting so brilliantly with his solo performance. During the interval welcome refreshments were served by the Wessex Cancer Trust, a charity which was generously supported by the audience. Simon Wilkins took back the baton for the second half of the concert for the orchestra’s performance of Schubert’s Symphony No.6 in C Major. e four movements fully exercised all sections of the orchestra. e string melody of the Adagio-Allegro contrasted nicely with the woodwind’s lyrical and expressive orchestration in the Andante. e woodwind featured once again along with the strings in the Scherzo and the symphony built up to a triumphant conclusion in the fourth and nal movement of the Allegro Moderato. e orchestra’s next concert will be at its base in Bramshaw Village Hall on Saturday 10th June commencing at 7pm. Further details can be found on the orchestra’s website at: www.solentconcertorchestra.org.uk collection of musical moods ending with the famous ‘Farandole’, a joyful and triumphant climax if ever there was. is was followed by Simon’s superb performance as he handed over the baton to Pam Ermisz from the 1st Violins. It was, perhaps, tting that Simon who has been the orchestra’s Musical Director and Conductor for ten years should be given centre stage to mark the occasion which he did Hythe Wives next meeting will be on Friday 21st April with Mandy from Copthorne Nurseries. ey normally meet on the first and third Fridays of the month at St Andrew’s Church, Dibden Purlieu, from 2pm to 4pm. ey have a subscription twice a year but visitors may attend for £2 deductible from the fee if you decide to join.
