Inspiration Straight from the Horse’s Mouth! What a treat for the members of Hythe & Waterside Rotary to listen to former local vet, Kate McMorris, who gave a presentation about her ‘Vet Trek’ which she undertook last year. Along with her beloved Palomino horse, Marilyn, who she bred herself, she made the trip from John O’ Groats to Lands End for a riding adventure of a lifetime. As well as lling a life-long ambition she also raised funds for two charities close to her heart: Pets As erapy and VetLife. Kate shared photographs and stories of her 1,300-mile trek, o en in inhospitable terrain and conditions, as well as recalling some of the wonderful people she met on her journey who supported her in a variety of ways. A Rotary spokesman said: “Our members cannot help but be inspired by Kate’s, enthusiasm and determination. After a great deal of planning and hard work she realised her goal, and this can only be described as a magnificent achievement by her and her beautiful horse”. If, like Hythe & Waterside Rotary, you would like to make a donation to Kate’s charities, please visit her website: www.vettrek.uk which includes her Just Giving page: www.justgiving.com/team/gbvettrek Left: Kate at the Rotary meeting Right: Kate and her horse - Photo copyright: Kate McMorris
